Saikyo-ji temple

A temple of the Jodo-Shin sect moved here with the residents in Minami-Oji village in 1698. In the precinct there have been passed down a main hall, well roof, shikidai(step in a Japanese entrance way), Sanmon gate, Shoin(drawing room), a bell tower, Kyozo (Sutra repository) and a drum tower designated national registered cultural properties. Saikyo-ji temple forms a historical sight together with Chinese juniper, natural treasure designated in Osaka Prefecture, in the precinct. The main hall was used as the site of the first congress of Minami-Oji Leveler’s Association and has a history of having been a stage of the local history.
